Welcome on our Site www.smds.ws, the shop from Skyraider Model Designs.
We are constantly working on new products for your scale aero plane models. Our main target is to detail up the neglected subjects of the French armée de l'air. If you are looking for these subjects, you are 100% right here. But we also try to improve some other models, the only way to find out which ones is to visit our product pages!
Have fun and happy modeling!

Another breath taking decal sheet from my friend Robert Schneider who took his spare time to draw the probably best Swiss Airforce F-5E/F Tiger II decal sheet available. Many details and all correct stencils are included, both in 1:72 and 1:48. And the Batch 1 label just means there is more to come. All the special markings seen during the "airport fare well" times and certain "jokes" during Miliz services will be available on Batch 2 very soon. Don't miss this sheet, you'll regret it otherwise!
At this point I would also like to remind everyone to visit our "reference photos" on the bottom of the page. Many not elsewhere published photos are available there!
A long time ago we started trials with clear resin in order to craft parts like the Mica IR heads as "clear". Many trials were needed and a lot of money went down the drain with no real good results. The clear resin was much to thick to flow in the form, remaining with lots of "bubbles" in the small parts. If the mixture was changed to get a more flowing resin, the result ended as milk-transparent or yellow-transparent.
But after all, my resin caster and friend found a formula to get that clear parts done. One of the first "highlights" will ship in for of the 1:72 F-100 reco pod. A picture of the first production sample can be found in the upcoming/future release section down the page.
(or here) Only the camera windows are "really clear".
Unfortunately same friend became sick with a shoulder infection for doing the resin casting process, and the doctors told him to stop work for several weeks. The reason why SMDS was long time out of stock of many required parts. But better he's back on track after some delay than never again!
Many of our items will go "out of stock" soon, or they are already. The current rate of € / Swiss Franc would force me to raise all prices of resin parts by 20%. This is not very realistic, so I wait for restock orders until we know where the rally stops.
But we continue to release NEW sets/decals, so keep an eye on the 1:72 section ;-).
If someone NEEDS absolutely an item, we'll be able to do some restock rather quickly. Please let me know via the contact form!
Sorry for any inconveniences, and let's hope to see the rate going back to 1€=1.45CHF soon!
Some time ago I asked via a poll how much you are interested in getting Spitfire noses in order to convert the ICM Spitfire to almost any Spitfire built.
Joël Ducasse did a great job on crafting those noses, and
not only the noses, also all the small parts that come with the front area of the Spitfire. The propeller blades are so thin, that we are still trying to get them out nicely of the silicon forms. But a true eye catcher!
The first noses (trial shots) are here now, and for you to get a preview a photo attached here. (mouse over and enlarge)
The sets we plan to do are:
1: Mk VII, Mk VIII or Mk IX early
2: Mk XVI or Mk IX late
3: Mk X or Mk XI
All will have the prop blades, prop cone, air intakes for carburator, exhaust pipes and an instruction sheet.
